Everyone knows a social network called FaceBook. It’s the place where lots of people are constantly spending lots of time. It didn’t take a long time for brands and local businesses to join FaceBook too. So when the amount of non-human accounts started to grow, FaceBook guys have decided to add an ability to create separate pages for businesses and brands.

Today FaceBook pages can be equipped and customized with a lot of different widgets and applications. However the most important of all is the FBML box – it lets you create awesome landing pages, using HTML, CSS, FBML, FBJS, iframes and even Flash.

In this tutorial we will show you how to design a photographers FaceBook FBML page. Follow carefully what we say and you will get a nice layout like this:

1. Let’s start with creating a new document 520 * 800 pixels. That’s because FaceBook has recently announced that the page width will be shortened from 760 to 520 pixels.

2. To create a fancy bubbles background we have used this great tutorial.

3. Now take the Rounded RectangleTool (U) and create a rectangle, which will contain our logo. The radius that I’ve used is 15px.

To enhance the rectangle let’s set a Opacity to 70%

and add a tiny shadow to it:

4. Fill in the rectangle with the name of your company using the Type Tool (T). To make it look more like a logo we can play with the fonts a bit. “John” is written with a thin font FuturaBTLight of #f5634a color, while “Marley” is black (#000000) FuturaBTBold. I have also added a tiny slogan at the bottom. It’s a Visitor TT1 BRK font with 10px height.

5. Adding some effects to the texts as shown on screenshots:

Gradient:

Outer Glow:

6. There’s some free space to the right from our logo – a perfect place to insert some photographers attribute. The most obvious one is undoubtedly a camera

7. The title of our page is “Welcome to my FaceBook page” which is also made of two above fonts of different colors.

8. Fill the page with some text content and add a bit styling to it by making some phrases bold and some underlined. I’ve used Tahoma font in this part:

9. As far as we’re creating a photographer layout, we need to add a tiny photo gallery to a page. Insert some photos and resize them to 210 * 115 pixels. Order in a line with a 10px distance between them. The third picture will not fit to a page, so we’ll have to cut it with Marquee Tool (M).

10. Add a Stroke effect on the layer with pictures – this will create a nice border:

Adding effect:

Stroke settings:

11. We obviously need a scrollbar under the pictures, so take a RectangleTool (U) and draw it. Then add DropShadow, GradientOverlay and Stroke effects as per screenshots:

Stroke:

Drop Shadow:

Gradient Overlay:

12. Pick a Pencil Tool (B) and draw 3 white and 3 black lines in the center of the scroller.

13. To finish the scroll box we need a scroll holder. Pick a Rectangle tool and make a black rectangle of the same height as the scroll. The width should be adjusted in accordance to the photo thumbs. Set the Opacity of the layer to 10%. The scroll box is all set:

14. Using a Text Tool add 2 more boxes in the footer – “Latest News” and “Contacts”. At the very bottom add the copyrights:

15. You can also add the icons of your social profiles to the header. And don’t forget to ask people to become a “Fan” of your page. Add a “Like” button with a supporting text to engage them to join:

Finally our FaceBook page is ready:

In the next chapter we’ll guide you on how to convert it into HTML and insert into FBML application. Stay tuned!

This tutorial is devoted to drawing a nice fairy using Photoshop. Before you start, look at the final image:

Step 1:

Create a new document sized 700×600 px. Fill the new layer with black color.

Step 2:

Draw something like that using pen tool:

Now select brush tool, set 2px size. Return to the pen tool menu, right click on the path and choose “Stroke Path”.

Set brush mode. Do it several times, create some new similar paths. Then take eraser tool:

Erase some parts of the lines to acquire this result:

Step 3:

At a new layer paint a little part of the line with color ff00d7. Change the layer’s blending mode to overlay:

At another layer draw one more line across the white stripes with color 0000ff. Blending mode-color burn:

And again at one more layer draw a green stain colored 13e11c. Blending mode-color dodge:

By the analogy draw some more stripes:

Step 4:

You’ll need it to decorate the picture. Though you can load some other brushes, these fit best. Create a new layer and draw some stars. But at first, go to the brushes panel and set such settings:

Draw the stars along the lines (with yellow color) and lower opacity of the layer till 60%. Look:

And draw some more with white colored brush:

Create a new layer again and draw some points of different bright colors. Set the layer’s blending mode overlay. The result is nice!

(Also draw some white points at the lines using standard brush tool of different sizes).

Step 5:

Take this brush:

At a new layer point once at the center of the picture. Go to “Add A Layer Style->Gradient Overlay”

The settings are below:

Step 6:

Choose some of the little star brushes and go to the brush panel again:

Draw shiny little sparkles along the lines. After you do this, apply “Add a Layer Style->Outer Glow”

with the settings:

Step 7:

Now paste a fairy image into the picture. If you draw it yourself, look for the techniques of drawing at this tutorial.  To stylize the fairy according to the image’s style, apply “Add a Layer Style->Outer Glow” and use the standard settings.

That’s all. I hope the tutorial was a pleasure for you! Have a look at the final image:

This tutorial is devoted to drawing funny pretty rabbits using Adobe Photoshop. You may use them for designing a postcard or something else. Completing the tutorial, you will apply different brush manipulations and also a few layer styles.

Final image preview:

Step 1:

Create a new document of 1200×800px. Fill the background with black color.

Step 2:

Using pen tool, draw a contour of the rabbit:

Then its head’s contour:

And after that the ears:

Step 3:

Remove imperfections of the contour with the help of direct selection tool (A). After that select the entire contour:

Notice that the path becomes selected:

Right click on it and choose “Make Selection” with feather radius 1:

Step 4:

At a new layer fill the selection with white color:

Click on the layer’s icon and choose “Duplicate Layer”. Move the copy as shown below:

Step 5:

Apply Free Transform (Ctrl+T) option to decrease the copy:

Step 6:

At a new layer use brush tool to fix some disadvantages of the figures (use white color):

Now choose this brush:

Apply it to attach a glowing effect. Outline the contours of the rabbits (do not forget to create a new layer!)

Step 7:

This step is devoted to brush presets and working with the brush panel. We will return to the rabbits a bit later. Now create a new document of 20×60 px. Using rectangle tool (U) draw a rectangle like this one:

The shape’s color must be black:

Go to “Edit->Define Brush Preset”

Step 8:

Return to the rabbits! Press “F” several times to return to the document with the bunnies. Open the window containing the brushes. At the end there must appear the new brush you added! Now go to the brush panel situated here:

The settings you need to make the bunnies fluffy are below:

Outline the contours of the bunnies at a new layer as you did it with the soft brush. Look at the result:

Step 9:

Let’s decorate the background behind the rabbits. Use pen tool (P) to draw hills behind the rabbits (do it at a new layer):

The color is #03180d.

Take a standard brush tool with the grass and create a layer again. There draw some grass around the rabbits, changing the brushes’ color from lighter to darker:

Step 10:

The easiest and funniest step is drawing the bunnies’ faces. A little advise: to attach them a funny look draw the eyes at different distance: one should be higher and the other one-lower. Draw the rabbits smiling! The smile will look nice if you draw it with the pen tool. I used color #5400ff for the eyes and #ff0066 for the smiles. Look:

Step 11:

Load some brush preset containing stars. At a new layer click once at the sky. (To load brushes, go here).

You should also choose a big brush of 199px and draw the moon. Then, take an eraser sized 150px and click on the moon to achieve this result:

Step 12:

And the last thing is adding a glowing effect to the stars and moon. Go to “Layer->Add a Layer Style->Outer Glow”:

This is the end! I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and it was useful for you.

This tutorial shows an easy way to create a fairy with wings and stylize them to acquire a nice look.

Final image preview:

Step 1:

Create a new document of 800×700 px. Fill the new layer with black color:

Step 2:

Paste a picture of some girl. You may take the picture I used here. Try to choose a picture which can be easily cut out from the background (the background should be black or white):

Step 3:

Let’s make the fairy brighter. Duplicate the layer with the girl and change its blending mode to overlay.

Do Gaussian Blur with radius 1,6 pixels. Look at her now:

Step 4:

Now paste a picture including wings. I think that it would be truly a good idea to find a butterfly and use its wings. If you want to see the image I used, you can do it here.

To attach the wings the right form I cut out one of them, duplicated it and placed a little bit lower. Apply free transformation (Ctrl+T) to move the copy:

Step 5:

The wings look too bright and their style doesn’t fit. But this problem is really easy to solve. So, go to hue\saturation (Ctrl+U) and apply these settings:

They become pink:

Step 6:

Create a new layer and draw at it with a soft brush tool. Take soft creamy color like fee67a:

Set Color Burn the layer’s blending mode. Now the wings are so beautiful! Here is the final result:

This tutorial shows how to decorate a usual photo with different colorful splashes and patterns.

Have a look at the final image:

Step 1:

Create a new document of 700×900 px. Then create a new layer, fill it with color d9ebf4. At this background the image we’ll design will look much better. Now find an image with a baby (like I did) or anything you like, but for this design a baby is a great idea.

Step 2:

Now let’s decorate the picture! Choose pen tool and set this working mode. If you aren’t a professional in vector graphics, use direct selection tool     .At a new layer draw a thin line near the baby (to transform a work path into a selection, right click on it and choose “make selection” with feather radius 1):

Fill the selection with some color. Do “Add a Layer Style->Gradient Overlay” and apply these settings:

Duplicate the layer and move it a little bit. Go to “Edit->Transform->Warp” and change the line anyhow you like to reach such result:

Step 3:

At a new layer draw a new line in the same way as the previous one (using pen tool and making selection):

And again apply gradient overlay:

Have a look at the result:

Make experiments and draw some more figures. Don’t forget to create new layers, and don’t do gradient overlay.

The only thing to remember is colors’ compatibility:

Apply Outer Glow:

Right click on the layer and select “Copy Layer Style”. Paste this style into every layer with colorful lines.

Step 4:

Find an image showing a butterfly.  Open it in the Photoshop.  Cut out one butterfly and paste it into the picture right into the hands of the baby:

Step 5:

Now draw two flowers at a new layer. It’s really easy. Take 60-px brush tool and draw a simple, childishly-looking flower, then another one:

(I used colors ffa800 and ffffff)

Step 6:

Paste another butterfly into the picture:

Duplicate the layer with the butterfly for some times. With the help of paint bucket change the colors. Rotate the copies to reach this result:

(To achieve an effect of a sitting insect, select one of the wings with the polygonal lasso tool, press Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V. Erase the wing at the previous layer. Return to the copy, press Ctrl+T and rotate it to place the wing behind the other one. Then place the copy’s layer lower than the butterfly’s layer.)

Step 7:

With the help of pen tool draw some lines here as in the previous steps:

For the red stripe apply this gradient:

And for the purple ones apply this:

Apply Outer glow to all these layers:

Step 8:

Draw two more colorful stripes colored fe6906. Apply Inner Glow to them:

Now look at the result:

Step 9:

This step is devoted to working with different shapes. Use custom shape tool (U). So, decorate all the colorful stripes with hearts, flowers, snowflakes or anything you like! I’d also advise you to make bigger and smaller points using standard Photoshop brushes. Point with different colors!

Well, this is the end. I hope this tutorial was easy and pleasant for you!

Step 1:

Firstly, create a new document of 840×760px. After creating a new layer, fill it with dark purple. Now type the name of the site. Use these settings:

Apply “Add Layer Style->Inner Glow” to both words :

The ready name:

Step 2:

Now design the menu. Draw a rectangle with the Rectangular Marquee tool. Fill it with purple color.

Do gradient overlay:

Create a new layer and make selection with the help of Polygonal Lasso tool. Fill the selection with white color and lower opacity of the layer to 17%, deselect selection.

The result:

Let’s draw the buttons. At a new layer use “Rectangular Marquee” tool to draw the buttons’ contours. Fill them with white color and then do gradient overlay.

Color settings:

Gradient settings:

Also apply “Add Layer Style->Outer Glow”

You should get such image:

Step 3:

Use type tool to write the headlines. Use 14pt-sized Myriad Pro print. Apply Outer Glow to all the words (apply the layer style to one type layer. Right click on it, select “Copy layer Style”. Right click on all the other layers with words and choose “Paste layer Style”). The necessary settings:

And the result:

Step 4:

Situate the picture under the menu, then apply clipping mask to it. Draw a rectangle at a new layer, fill it with white color. Notice that there appeared a part of the image with the clipping mask. Now do the same with two other pictures, but make them smaller.  Desaturate them. You should acquire this result:

Step 5:

Now let’s design the buttons designed for viewing the pictures! With the help of ellipse tool (U), draw a circle holding Shift here (don’t forget to create a new layer and situate it higher than the rest).Go to “Add a Layer Style->Gradient overlay”. Apply such settings:

The result:

At a new layer draw a little white-colored spot inside the circle, lower opacity of the layer to 25%.

Create a new layer. With the help of polygonal lasso tool draw a triangle and fill it with white color.

Design the second button in the same way. The only thing to change is the angle of the gradient:

Look:

Now let’s draw the pictures’ contours. Select layers containing the white squares. Go to “Add a Layer Style->Stroke” and apply these settings:

Look at the result:

It’s much nicer!

Step 6:

Next we’ll improve the portfolio. Lower opacity of the layers with the white squares to 40%. Reach almost full transparency as at the image below. The centered image looks much better now, doesn’t it?

Now create a new layer and draw a thin line under the pictures.  Do gradient overlay:

And this is what you’ll get:

Under the line write “What I do:” with the settings you used to write the name of the site. After this type “Project Info:” nearby. Under these words write the necessary information using 12-px Verdana type.

Well, that’s all. Thanks for following this tutorial! Have a look at the final image in its actual size:

In this tutorial you can learn how to design a simple, but cute New Year card. You will work with different effects and brush presets. But the main thing in creating this picture is your own fantasy! You may experiment with colors.

Final Image Preview:

In black:

And in dark blue:

Let’s get started!

Step 1:

First, create a new document sized 1920px x1200px in Photoshop. Set RGB color mode. If you prepare an image for print, set the document’s resolution 300 px/inch instead of 72.

Create a new layer and fill it with a color you like. It’s not important! Then find “Add Layer Style” in the layer palette and choose “Gradient overlay”. I applied such settings for the colors:

And such for the gradient’s style:

At a new layer draw the shadow in the bottom part of a picture. Use brush with soft edges and low opacity.

Step 2:

Now we will draw the fir tree. Firstly, draw its contour at a new layer. If it’s difficult for you to do draw it the way you want it to be, use pen tool to draw, then right click and choose “make selection”. After you do this it’ll be really easy to draw a beautiful contour using a brush of little size. I took a 5px brush:

Next, download some brushes. They’ll be necessary in our next steps. Download here:

Step 3:

This step is the most interesting and creative. Have you downloaded the brushes? Now choose some of them which looks like a star. Move to the brushes panel and select “brush tip shape”. To do bunches on the fir tree, apply these settings in the brush tip shape menu:

Now draw bunches like I did (don’t forget to create a new layer):

Go to “Add layer Style->Gradient Overlay”. Let’s make the bunches colorful! Look:

The result:

Create a new layer again. Here we’ll draw the snow. Choose some of the brushes and go to the brushes panel again. There apply this:

And this:

And this:

Now draw the snow:

I applied outer glow (“Add Layer Style->Outer Glow”)

Now experiment with settings in the brush panel and decorate the fir tree! You may also apply Inner and Outer Glow.

Just don’t forget to do everything at separate layers! You can delete the contour now. At the top of the fir draw a big shiny star:

Step 4:

It would be nice to draw some Christmas balls. Create a new layer, then take Elliptical Marquee tool and draw a circle holding Shift. Fill it with some color, for example, pink. And now we’ll work with layer styles.

Apply “Bevel and Emboss”:

Also “Outer Glow”:

And “Inner Glow”:

Now draw some more balls using Elliptical Marquee. You should also draw some blinks on the balls.

Look at the result:

Step 5:

The last thing about this picture is to decorate the background. Experiment with the brushes to draw the snow:

(to change background color create a layer, place it above the layer with the gradient overlay).

I hope you liked this tutorial! Happy New Year!

Here I want to explain how to design a dark and misty mountain scene using the Photoshop. This photoshop tutorial is easy and effective. Let’s start!

Final Image Preview:

First it is necessary to find two images: one like this one:

And the other one showing a big city like New York:

And now we will proceed to the work actually:

Step 1:

Open the mountainous image in the Photoshop. Duplicate the layer. Let’s do a nice gradient. Go to “Layer->New Fill Layer->Gradient fill” and set such colors:

And such settings:

After you do the gradient, change its blend mode to “Soft Light”

This is the result:

Step 2:

Duplicate the layer with the mount again and move it to the top of the layer palette. Set “Screen” blend mode and go to “Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Color Balance”. The settings are below:

And this is what you get:

Step 3:

Let’s add some more color depth to the picture and darken it a bit. Go to “Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Channel Mixer” and set such settings:

Then “Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Curves”

And the last effect here will be “Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Levels”.

If the image you acquire is monochromatic, just duplicate the background layer and place the copy above all the layers. Set blending mode of this layer to overlay. The picture will remain dark, but it will be colorful.

Step 4:

Load the next picture (the one with the city) into Photoshop. With the help of rectangular marquee tool make selection as it’s shown below:

Copy selection (Ctrl+C) and paste it into our document. Reduce it with the help of Ctrl+T,holding Shift to constrain proportions. Change blending mode to luminosity. Then erase some unnecessary parts:

Duplicate the layer “city” and do “Filter->Blur->Gaussian Blur”.

Set “Screen” this layer’s blending mode. It will attach the city a little glowing effect.

Step 5:

Now we will fog the image and add a little glowing effect. Create a new layer, take polygonal lasso tool and set “feather=20”. Make selection of some lower parts of mountains and do “Filter->Render->Clouds”. Change Blending mode to overlay. Duplicate the current layer, press Ctrl+L and set the settings:

Set color dodge the layer’s blending mode (this will strengthen the glowing effect of some picture’s regions).

Duplicate the layer with the mountains for some times and move the copies to attach the picture some more haziness and to brighten the colors.

That’s all, actually! At the end you may change the color scale by changing Hue/Saturation settings (Ctrl+U).

Hello!

The photoshop tutorial you see shows an effective way to draw a cute crystal apple with the help of the Photoshop.

Final Image Preview:

Step 1:

Create a new document 500×500 with a white background. Â Press Ctrl+I to invert the color into black.

Now duplicate the background layer and fill the layer with some dark blue color like “171a37”. Then go to “Filter->Render->Lighting effect” and lighten one part of the picture. The settings to use are shown here:

Step 2:

Draw the apple’s contour with the pen tool. After you do this, right click on the work path. Choose “make selection”

After the contour is ready move to the channel palette and create a new channel the same way you create a new layer. Fill the selection with white color.

Then return to the layer palette. Press Ctrl+U (Hue/Saturation) and moving the runners make the background inside the selection a bit lighter. Press Ctrl+D. You must have something like this:

Step 3:

Take polygonal lasso tool with feather’s hardness about 5 px. Draw a little cantle with the lasso near the apple. After you do this, go to the channel palette and click at the channel you created, holding Alt+Ctrl+Shift. There will remain only a little part of our selections:

Step 4:

Create a new layer and fill the selectionwith white color. Undo selection with the help of Ctrl+D. Reach this result, following the actions of step 3:

Step 5:

Make selection at the top of the apple with the elliptical marquee tool. Then create a new channel in the channel palette again.  Create a layer.

Draw some  white stripes and points inside the selection staying in the channel palette. Then go to “Filter->Distort->Zigzag”. Use such settings:

After you apply this effect, return to the layer palette. But before you do this, don’t forget to click at the
“Alpha 2” channel holding Ctrl. Notice that the stripes became selected at the layer palette. Fill them with white.

If it seems to you to be too bright, use eraser with low opacity (like 32%) to darken it a bit.

Step 6:

Let’s draw the branch. Firstly draw its contour with the pen tool.

Right click on the work path and make selection.  Create a new layer, fill the branch with dark blue color of the background.

Go to “Layer->Layer styles->Stroke”:

After you do this add some points and stripes without deselection. When you will complete it, do deselection.

Step 7:

Some highlights would be nice! Draw a contour using pen tool:

Then make selection and do a gradient. Background color must be transparent, foreground color- white. Make a few of them.

And to attach shiny effect, use “Filter->Render->Len’s Flare”.

That’s all, I hope you enjoyed following this tutorial and it was an experience for you!

This tutorial is devoted to creating of a cool and fresh floral effect using the Photoshop. It’s easy to do this with the help of some ornaments, brushes and layer styles. We will also use motion blur. You can see the steps of our work below.

Final Image:

Step 1:

Start with creating a white background. Create a new layer. Then choose type tool and print the word you like.

It’s important to use thick type and take bright colors.

Step 2:

Let’s make a shadow under the text. Go to the Layer Palette and choose “add a layer style->drop shadow”. The shadow must look soft and blur. Set such settings:

It’s the result:

Step 3:

Now it’s time to decorate the word. Create a new layer. Choose one of the “Floral” brush tools and draw a pattern over the word just like I did it, or download a floral pattern and try to cover all the letters by pasting the ornament into the picture! For example I’ve taken brush “Flourish 3”, brush “Flourish 7” and calm yellow e5e297. Don’t be afraid to draw them. You can always take “Eraser tool” and erase everything unnecessary. This is my result:

Step 4:

We are going to improve the image with the help of some effects. Select the text layer. All the effects now will be applied only to the text, and the ornament will stay the same. Go to “Layer->Add Layer Style->Inner Shadow”. The settings you need are below:

Now, do gradient overlay:

Apply stroke structure (Layer->Add Layer Style-> Stroke Structure”):

At this step the picture looks so:

Duplicate the text layer and go to “Noise->Add Noise”

Necessary settings:

Lower opacity of the layer to 11%.

Select the “Butterfly” layer again. Apply “Outer glow”. (Layer->Add Layer Style->Outer Glow”).

Step 5:

Now we will do the background. Create a new layer and place it lower, than the “Butterfly”.

Do a pure blue gradient.

Then, decorate the picture with some ornaments. I used ornaments with butterflies. Don’t forget to place them into a separate layer!!!

After you place them, lower opacity to 35%.

Step 6:

Duplicate the layer with the text. Enlarge the copy to cover the image, and then go to “Blur->Motion Blur” with the settings:

And you will acquire such picture:

Step 7:

If you decide to increase brightness, go to “Image->Adjustments->Curves” and set settings you like. I didn’t change brightness particularly.

This is what I got:

But I think that it is better not to do the curves as the background distracts from the type.

Here we are, the stylish text is now ready. Of course, you can add some layer styles or add a texture to the background. I hope this tutorial was an experience for you!
