Free Facebook Fan Page Storage

I would like to announce  a great news for all facebook fans, free facebook fan page storage (hosting). Taking into consideration the fact that facebok does not support FBML, hostfb.com created a useful platform to host all your fan pages in one place. There is no need to think where to have your pages. Hostfb offers 3 steps to have your fan page alive.

Here is the tutorial on how to set up an account and run your fan pages:

1. Registration at hostFB.com

Go to Registration page at http://hostfb.com/register to register.
It’s dead fast and doesn’t require confirmation or activation.

2. Logging In to your account on hostFB.com

Once registered, you will be taken to the Log In page asking you to input your username and password.

Should you decide to change your personal account data (Name, username or password), you will have to click “My Account” on the left sidebar:

Then input new information and click “Update Info”:

3. Adding a fan page

Once you are logged, you will see your profile (with no pages in it yet). There will be a listing of your fan pages and account link on the left side:

The system will ask you to create new fan page starting with entering its name.

Just in case you need to remove the existing app you can click the red cross icon next to the fan page name:

4. Uploading iframe app ZIP to Fan page account

The fan page will be instantly added to the fan pages listing on the left sidebar:

On the right side, you will find the upload field along with uploading requirements guidelines. We’ve highlighted essential ones.

Let us describe these in more details:

a.It’s not allowed to upload .php or .asp app for now, static ones are acceptable;

b.There is the listing of files which can be submitted to hostFB, such as pictures, flash and regular videos, music tracks, .zip packages, txt documents (mind, you may also upload .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, etc), .html, .css, .js, .ico;

c.Another important thing is how to pack your application before you upload it to hostFB. You will have to create an empty “html” folder, copy all the content of your application into it (so the path to the main index.html reads html/index.html but not, let’s say, html/some_folder/another_dummy_folder/index.html), and zip the html folder to get html.zip;

d.Your application has to be coded correctly. If the app doesn’t work properly when you run it from index.html, obviously, it will not be displayed properly at hostFB preview page;

e.There must be default index.html file in the app root folder, which will load the entire app;

f.Only zipped application can be submitted to hostFB, moreover, we will scan the content of your ZIP, and if there is no HTML folder with entire app, your submission will be rejected. Please refer to the statement in c) for detailed explanation;

g.The size of ZIP must not exceed 100 MB.

The system will scan submitted app zip, and if there is no html (meaning, it’s name is different from “html”) folder inside zip, you will get the following message:

5.Previewing and getting Canvas URL

Once your application has been successfully uploaded you will be taken to the application preview page:

The Canvas URL is the path to your application on hostFB’s server. That’s exactly what you will be adding into the application set up wizard on Facebook. That’s the URL your app will be populated from and displayed in the iframe on the Facebook Canvas Page.

If there is no index.html in the app directory, you will be getting the following message:

Need help with installation your app on Facebook?

We have a step-by-step installation .PDF guide describing how to create and install fan page apps on Facebook.

6.Reuploading the application

On the right side, there is global upload section (just in case you need reload the app completely) and your app directory tree (where you can remove unnecessary files/directories).

The global app upload section lets you reupload the entire app. Since there is no individual files upload for now, you will have to update your app, zip it and reupload completely using Global upload button. Note, that new zip will erase the files which were there before. In other words, you cannot upload only selected files, instead, you will have to upload the entire app.

The directory tree section on the right side gives you the listing of all the files submitted to hostFB. You can delete individual files or folders by checking the corresponding files and clicking Delete tab. We are planning to add more useful features in future.

Should you decide to change your personal account data (Name, username or password), you will have to click “My Account” on the left sidebar.
